Thank you for this. It absolutely can be exhausting to "appeal to higher intelligence, personal empathy, and give-a-care wits" as you so eloquently put it. I hope you don't give up. You see what is happening and you see what can work and not work. Those of us who are in the trenches to promote social justice need people like you to continue to step up.
